The friendly team at Lewis Auto Hire answer frequently asked questions relating to car rentals on the Gold Coast.
Q- Can we check rates without making a booking?
You may request a quotation and check availability without making a reservation. Complete only the first pages of the rates and reservations process. Or feel free to ring Lewis Auto Hire during business hours 7am-5pm Monday-Saturday AEST.
Q- How will I know my reservation is confirmed?
At the end of the reservation process you will receive a “Reservation Confirmation” page with the reservation number highlighted. You will also receive a confirmation email containing the details of your reservation. Your pick up times and procedure will also be on this email.
Q- Can I extend my rental duration during the agreement time?
Extending the rental duration is possible at time of check out or during the rental period. You will need to contact or come in person to Lewis Auto Hire Miami location. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment. We will always do our very best to accommodate such requests.
Q- Is it possible to cancel or modify my reservation once it is confirmed?
Yes it is. Please contact our office and we will be more than happy to help.
PAYMENT & FEE’S
Q- Do we charge cancellation Fees?
Lewis Auto Hire reserves the right to charge a minimum cancellation fee of $50 if cancellation is within 7 days of rental agreement. Please call our office and our friendly team will endeavor to help out in the unfortunate event you can not make your trip to the Gold Coast.
Q- What happens if I return the vehicle late?
Please contact our office at your first convenience if you are going to be late returning the vehicle. We do have charges for late return, please see our terms and conditions.
Q- In the event of an accident what am I liable to pay?

Q- What methods of payment do Lewis Auto Hire accept?
We accept cash, eftpos and most major Credit Cards including Visa, MasterCard and Bankcard. Lewis Auto Hire does require that the main driver on the vehicle holds a current credit card for bond purposes. Unfortunately we do not accept AMEX or Diners cards.
Q- Can I return the vehicle outside the location operating hours?
Yes, you may return your vehicle when the Lewis Auto Hire Miami location is closed if prior arrangements have been made. The vehicle will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by a Lewis Auto Hire representative.
Q- Where can I not drive the rental vehicle?
Lewis Auto Hire vehicles can be driven in QLD and NSW on sealed roads only unless we are notified before the commencement of hire.
Q- Do I need to have an International Drivers Licence?
If you will not be driving for a period that is longer then three (3) months and you have an International Drivers License it will be honored by Australian law. If you plan to stay in Australia for more than three months and intend to drive for that period you are required to obtain an International Drivers Permit.
Q- Can I tow using a Lewis Auto Hire vehicle?
Yes, some of our vehicles can tow if required. Please notify our staff prior to making a reservation.
Q- How many kilometres per day?
Lewis Auto Hire vehicles have a 250 kilometres per day limit on all vehicles. More kilometres are possible at additional cost.
Q- What age do I have to be to hire a vehicle and can i hire with a provisional licence?
You must be 21 or over and have held a current drivers licence for a period of 2 years or longer. Yes we can hire to persons with provisional licence as long as the persons have held a current driver licence 2 years or longer.
Q- Can anyone other then myself drive the car?
Yes, only if each person is on the Rental Agreement. When collecting the vehicle each driver must be listed on the Rental Agreement and they must present their drivers license at time of collection.
Q- If I lock my keys in the vehicle am I covered by Road Side Assistance?
No, please see our terms and conditions for roadside assistance.
